Jaramillo, Hewitt and Jeffers star in exciting season finale

Heading into the final round of the Texas ProKart Challenge at the Dallas Karting Complex, the forecast was ominous with rain tagged from Thursday to Monday. The expected precipitation hit hard on Friday and Saturday, dumping on the facility on Friday night and then hitting hard again on Saturday afternoon. Thankfully, even with flooding around the track and in the surrounding region, Sunday morning dawned dry and clear, which led to a solid day of competition. The SKUSA regional champions would be crowned, and for those in the X30 and Mini Swift categories which will likely be the class open to 80+ entries, the free pass to the main events at the SuperNationals – known as the Guaranteed SuperSunday Starting Spots – would be locked in.

The Mindshift Financial Mini Swift category led the rotation throughout the weekend, and they were the first to hit the track on Sunday morning for qualifying. For the most part, the track was dry from the Saturday rains but there were still areas where water wicked up from under the asphalt. The short shute between turns 14 and 15 was wet all day, making it a spotlight corner during each and every session. With everyone on Evinco slicks, this would be the key point on the track all day, separating the field into those who could handle the wet section and the run through turn 15 and those who could not. Alex Stanfield (Energy) picked up the tricky turn 15 racing line quickly and qualified on the pole, and he went on to win the Prefinal, as well. In the 15-lap main event, a tremendous four-kart battle ensued as Jack Jeffers (Benik), Chase Gardner (VemmeKart) and Aden Rudolph (Birel ART) were embroiled in the scrap. Stanfield led the entire race until final lap as Jeffers closed to make a bid for the win. With new pressure from behind, Stanfield ran a defensive line into the double-apex left-hand turn 10 and Jeffers ran a wide entry to get inside the leader heading into second apex, taking over the point for good in turn 12. Stanfield remained under pressure as Gardner was right there as well, making a quick move to the inside on the entry into T15 after running through the water stream. Stanfield had pushed wide slightly and opened the door, and Gardner filled it quickly with minimal contact. Stanfield kept the forward bite to hold off Rudolph for the final step on the podium. With Jeffers and Gardner finishing 1-2, Stanfield’s third place result was more than enough to cap off the best season of his young career with the Texas PKC Mini Swift championship.

  • Technical Update for the Texas ProKart Challenge Event at GCKI

From Dave Pauly, TPKC Series Director & Rick Miller,  TPKC Technical Director:

Due to the concern that some competitors in the shifter classes may have been running fuel other than the TPKC series Spec VP 98, effective for TPKC Rounds 7 & 8 this weekend VP C12 will be allowed as the preferred option for all shifter classes.  Both VP-98 and VP-C12 will be available at the track for pickup.  If you per-ordered VP-98, you will be allowed to substitute C12.
This decision has been made to ensure a "Level Playing Field" for all shifter competitors competing for championships this weekend at the final round of the Texas ProKart Challenge.

Any questions regarding this change may be directed to Dave at or Rick at

Motorsports Development World Challenge Mustang Boss 302SMotorsports Development Group's Pirelli World Challenge Mustang Boss 302S

Motorsports Development Group logoThe Motorsports Development Group – the successful driver development program in sport car racing – is now further engrained in the grassroots level of the sport following today's announcement that Motorsports Development Group has formed a partnership with Texas ProKart Challenge, the Premier Texas Regional Karting Series. The statewide professional karting series – with 8 Rounds throughout Texas and Oklahoma – will become an Official Partner of the Motorsports Development Group effective immediately to foster the next wave of up-and-coming drivers in the sports car world.

"The level of competition and professionalism that the Dave Pauly insists on for the Texas ProKart Challenge Series is what has attracted us to this series. After discussing with Dave about a partnership that would involve the development of young Texas based drivers into the world of sports cars and his excitement for this partnership made it even more exciting to make this happen.'' said, Stuart Robinson, Owner and Operating Partner of Motorsports Development Group. "There is a lot of common goals of providing drivers with the best training and opportunities to advance. Our Pirelli World Challenge Driver Alec Udell is a former TPKC driver and series Champion. This new alliance further underscores the natural progression of advancing from karts to cars via the Motorsports Development Group platform."

"We are extremely excited to have Motorsports Development Group as part of the Texas ProKart Challenge," stated series owner Dave Pauly. "Karting is a great family-based hobby while also serving as the grassroots level of the motorsports development ladder system. While we like to see racers stay in the sport of karting, we understand the desire for young drivers to try their hand at car racing. MDG is the perfect race team to form a partnership with, as they are based right here in Texas and have been involved in karting for a number of years. Their operation knows what it takes to move up the motorsports ranks, and improve as a driver."

MDG and TPKC will hand pick 2 drivers at the last round of the Texas ProKart Challenge in Katy, Texas. One driver from the junior ranks and one driver from the senior ranks. Each driver will be given a test in one of Motorsports Development's development cars with Motorsports Development's Pirelli World Challenge Team. www.motorsportsdevelopmentgroup.com
