  • SKUSA Rule Updates for X30 Classes To Take Effect 4/17/16

Drivers in the X30 classes are advised to review the updated X30 Supplementary Rules posted on the SKUSA Rulebook page regarding revised technical specifications. Both spark plug and radiator rules are being updated to reflect input from engine builders, tuners and our racers. These changes will take effect in 30 days.

  • SKUSA Announces Spec Fuel Change

After discussion with a number of engine builders and tuners across the country, Superkarts! USA has decided that VP C12 will be the exclusive spec fuel for all SKUSA classes, starting with races scheduled at least 30 days from today. This change will help stabilize pricing and reduce inventory challenges for our competitors as well as our karting industry partners.

The Pro Tour SpringNationals in Arizona on April 29-May 1 will be the first national SKUSA race to implement this change. As for each SKUSA regional series: the California ProKart Challenge will implement this change starting with the June 3-4 event at Simraceway, the Texas ProKart Challenge will kick it off at their first event on May 20-22 at North Texas Kartway, the Can-Am Karting Challenge will effect the change on their same kick off weekend May 20-22, and the Maui PKC will follow suit two races from now on May 21.

For the SKUSA classes at LAKC, the change will take place starting with their May 15 championship race.

Additional information will be posted on the corresponding websites shortly.

  • Texas ProKart Challenge Releases 2014 Schedule

TPKC-R1-2014-ScheduleRacers of the Texas ProKart Challenge will contest a four weekend, eight-round championship in 2014 (Photo: Dreams Captured Photography)

The Texas ProKart Challenge, presented by 3G Kart Racing/Burger King®/Fernelius Alvarez Attorneys/Dallas Karting Complex, hosted five solid events in 2013, as part of their sophomore season. The Superkarts! USA and US Rotax Max Challenge regional series is now gearing up for another successful year, officially announcing their 2014 schedule. A four-weekend, eight-race championship will take racers to three prominent Texas circuits, along with a historic Oklahoma race course to fill out the third year of the series. The year-end awards package is scheduled to double last year's total, reaching over $30,000 in cash and prizes. Registration for the season and the opening round of the program will open on March 14.

"It's great to be entering our third season," stated Texas ProKart Challenge promoter Dave Pauly. "We have a wonderful group of racers that continues to grow each year, and supportive race teams, sponsors, and facilities that help make this one of the best regional programs in the country. Each year, our goal is to provide an even better program, having listened to what the racers want. Our 2014 schedule positions our events around major races in the country, allowing our racers plenty of time to compete in the eight-round championship. We've doubled our prize package for the year as well, further supporting our 'more racing, more reward, more value' motto."

  • TPKC 2013 Mini Rok Program

mini-rok2Working in cooperation with Vortex, SKUSA has a fleet of new Mini Rok engines that will be sold at a deeply discounted rate to inject even more life into the class, one that boasted an incredible field of 68 pilots at the 2012 SuperNationals. This Mini Rok 60cc engine is the spec powerplant for the TaG Cadet class, and one of the key features of the program is the $3000 claiming rule that SKUSA employs, which eliminates the stigma of well-funded teams being able to benefit from hand-picked engines. The Mini Rok provides young drivers with the opportunity to run the Texas ProKart Challenge, the SKUSA Pro Tour and the prestigious SKUSA SuperNationals. Parents must commit to running the entire TPKC regional series and purchase a Series Loyalty Package (discounted entry package to all TPKC events) in order to receive the discounted price of just $1,550 (plus delivery) for the complete motor package. The retail price for the motor is $2,800. There are 10 Vortex Mini Rok engines available to TPKC racers at this discounted price, they will be sold on a first come first served basis. This incentive plan has been put into place to help support young competitors looking for a solid engine package in a strong and growing organization. Interested TAG Cadet parents should contact TPKC via e-mail () to apply for this discount engine purchase program.

To further extend this program, thanks to significant feedback regarding the need for this adjustment, SKUSA has elected to open the TaG Cadet age window to drivers who will turn eight during the 2013 calendar year. This essentially opens the class to drivers aged 7-12. Should this interest turn into actual race entries, Kutscher is considering plans to offer a new TaG Novice class (ages 8-9) to support the new influx of young drivers into the PKC program. Here is a link to the SKUSA 2013 Mini Rok Supplementary Class Information (see pages 18, 19 & 20).

  • Texas ProKart Challenge - Tire Rule Change

The racers voiced their opinions about the Texas ProKart Challenge tire requirements and the series listened. Due to racer feedback Texas ProKart Challenge has changed the tire rule and all classes will be required to have new tires on Saturday only, new tires on Sunday are optional.

SKUSA and local option classes must buy their tires from the series. Rotax classes may buy their tires from any dealer. Tire purchase is available through online registration on the Texas ProKart Challenge website and will be delivered to the track.
