  • Tech Update Re:Grandsport Speedway

Rick Miller the Texas ProKart Challenge Tech Director would like to bring the following to your attention:

    Attention all Racers and Tuners,

Just a few words about the next Pro Kart Challenge race at Grandsport.  As everyone knows this event is a little different that others, its a big, long, fast track. That being said I want to remind everyone that kart maintenance is crucial. This is not your everyday sprint track.

Please take the time to go over your pre tech sheets for SKUSA and Rotax, each and item on the sheets MUST be checked on your kart, not just check the item off on paper.

    Check List:
    • All weight bolts, make sure they are secured properly.
    • Wheels, hubs and bearings.
    • Brake master cylinders and calipers, including brake pads.
    • It is recommended you balance your wheels.
    • Check all steering components, ie: tie rod ends, pills, kingpins, column.
    • Seat mounting hardware.
    • All bumper components.
    • Rear axle assembly, bearings, hubs, brake and sprocket carriers.
    • Proper safety wire or clips.
    • All personal safety equipment, helmet, gloves, suit, neck braces, shoes.
Thank you all and look forward to seeing everyone at the races!

The inaugural Texas ProKart Challenge (TPKC) presented by 3G Kart Racing/Burger King™/Fernelius Alvarez Attorneys event went into the books over the weekend (May 4-6) at the Gulf Coast Kartways facility in Katy, Texas. The TPKC is a combination of Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) and United States Rotax Max Challenge (USRMC) programs, kicking off the year with rounds one and two around the 7/10-mile course. The Gulf Coast Karters helped to organize a great event with a ton of positive feedback throughout the weekend from a number of competitors.

  • Texas ProKart Challenge - Rounds 1 & 2

The opening rounds of the Texas ProKart Challenge were a huge success with a total of 134 entries over the weekend!  Gulf Coast Karters organized a flawless event that ran with the precision of a Swiss timepiece according to the published schedule all weekend. The shifter classes were split into two groups to accommodate the 30 entries. There were several drivers competing in two classes, doubling their chance of winning paid entries to the Rotax Grand Nationals and the SKUSA! SuperNationals. With the SKUSA race format of qualifying, two heat races and a main event by the end of the weekend all drivers felt they had plenty of track time.
